Over the next six months, ESI Media, the parent company of The Independent and the Evening Standard, plans to double its video team to 50. Each title currently has a team of 10 video specialists, and a central team of five works across both brands on bigger projects. The Independent needed to get its video offering right before growing its team, according to editor Christian Broughton.

Broadly speaking, The Independent’s original video falls into three categories: foreign correspondence, like reporting on a fire in a refugee camp in Syria; explainers with journalists, such as one with economics editor Ben Chu about whether austerity is over in the U.K.; and mini-documentaries about subjects like a teenage drug dealer. All are under five minutes long.

“We have been focusing on international and foreign reporting and putting a spotlight on the lives people who are struggling in some way,” said Broughton. “These are the ideas that represent the brand and mission of [The Independent].”

As any content marketer will tell you, ensuring users engage with your work is only half the battle. As such, the research also looked into how much content is remembered, and which were the most memorable forms of content. Astonishingly, we found 80% of people can’t remember most of the information from branded content they’ve seen just three days prior.

However, the Microsoft research is misleading, the reality is that our brains can house vast amounts of information and we regularly maintain focused interest for long periods of time. Films typically last around two hours, and on public transport, many remain glued to their phones for the entire journey, browsing social media or online news. In fact, the latest figures show that, on average, we spend more than 4 hours a day looking at our phone screen. Unfortunately, the workplace is typically less engaging than your Instagram feed and I regularly hear from presenters that their audience is daydreaming or doodling while they speak. And it’s not just employees, increasingly brands are struggling to engage with their customers – particularly when it comes to content where the marketplace is growing ever more crowded.

Odds are, you’ve seen a whiteboard video in the past few years because online education content has exploded in the past decade, and whiteboard animation is kind of perfect for explaining things.

And while whiteboard explainers are ideal for your next TED talk, whiteboard animation is about so much more than education content.

The ability to humanize your brand and present yourself directly to a highly targeted audience further opens the doors for an array of advertising opportunities. You no longer have to rely on your advertisement getting seen by people watching a certain TV show or reading a certain magazine.

Yes, to a point you were able to advertise to a specific group of people via print media and other methods in the past as well.

Spurred in part by a shortage of engaging youth-oriented content in China, where Facebook and YouTube are blocked, and media and entertainment outlets are heavily censored, Chinese ACG is developing into a multibillion-dollar industry, analysts say, drawing investment from tech titans such as Tencent and Alibaba.

With amateur video uploads booming in smartphone-addicted China, platforms like Bilibili are fuelling and capitalising on the ease with which the average Chinese armed with a camera can attain viral celebrity.

Big crowds, big bucks: a beginner’s guide to the e-sports phenomenon that’s conquering China

The twenty-something Yaorenmao, a pseudonym meaning “cat that bites people”, began a few years ago to upload brief DIY videos from her home in the southwestern city of Chengdu in 2011. She dances to saccharine-sweet tunes in the clips, acting out an unfulfilled childhood dream of becoming a dancer.

Tweet, tweet. A little bird told me that 66% of Twitter users have discovered a new brand on the social media platform. How can your brand be found—and, more important, found by people who will want to buy from you?

Twitter offers robust ad targeting capabilities, and today's infographic by influencer marketer platform Izea breaks down how to use them.

First, it explains the five ways to use Twitter campaigns:

Boost brand awareness: Pay for each impression.

Increase your Twitter following: Pay for each new follower.

Increase website traffic: Pay for clickthroughs.

Increase engagement: Pay for the initial engagement.

Quick promote / Promoted video: Pay for a number of promoted views (based on your budget).

The infographic goes on to explain how to best use Twitter's targeting options. It recommends starting with the basics—such as location, gender, device, and language—and then adding behavioral, keyword, follower, or interest targeting, the last of which is broken out into 25 categories and 350 subtopics.

Before we do, it's worth noting these campaign ads aren't subject to the strict rules that prevent a candidate or party distributing misleading or deceptive information about their rival during an election. The Coalition has flagged legislation to change that, but will wait until a High Court challenge against the postal survey has been heard.

Any change is at least a week away. The Coalition for Marriage group responsible for the ad is raising money to keep it on the air. It claims it cost $35,000 a day.

Who is this group? It's led by the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, the Anglican Diocese of Sydney and 25 other organisations, many of them Christian. The ACL has a track record of lobbying state and federal governments and claims 80,000 members.

The ad does not directly address the question of whether same-sex couples should be able to marry. It features three unidentified women speaking about their concerns around the impact of same-sex marriage on children.

Hello,

My boyfriend and I, both 18 y/o, started dating in may of 2016. It is now two days before our one year and he admitted to me that he cheated on me in august of 2016. He said he was high and didnt know. He was with her getting high in the first place. Anyway, its been so long and I love him to pieces but I am torn. I want to forgive him but i know things will be different. I suffer from arthritis witch then followed severe depression and anxiety. I no longer have insurance to continue therapy and I fear that if I break up with him it will only make my symptoms work. Please help I am torn.

Thank You

Hello,

He looked a bit shocked though when I made those comments, and that was the end of our platonic friendship. After 2 months of heavy flirting I decided to proposition that we become FWB. I hadn't had any sex in like 7-8 months by then and although we did talk about relationships he never asked me to be his girl. Let me just add that he's a bit overweight and has a bit of a nerdy/hipster look, I'm more of a fit, girly girl. He even told me recently that he thought I was a "goody two shoes" when he first met me. Anyways, we've had sex about 8-9 times now, and we talk at work, we flirt but he's never taken me out on a date. He tells me "take me out sometime?" and I'm like "Wtf? girls dont take guys out on dates?". If he actually liked me he'd make an effort. Ive told him I had feelings for him and Ive told him that I couldn't do the FWB thing because I was getting attached and he said he didn't mind. However, whenever I confess my feelings to him which have been like 3 times he's always said "well, this FWB thing was your idea so you have to stick with it now". This last time we had sex though, he almost said "I love you". He was behind me, sex talking to me and then he said "I love yyy" and stopped himself. So I decided id end our FWB yesterday and he was cool with it. Today he was talking to me at work and a girl passes by and he checks her out and says "dang, whose that? she works here?" as if he didn't know. Either he wants to push me away or get me jealous, either way I have one question for everyone... How do I make this nerdy/hipster my ?!?!?! I'm so over this!

Thank You

Hello,

ok so I have been talking with an old flame (known him since high school) that is over seas at the moment but will be coming home for 2 weeks in October and it seems he is interested in pursuing things between us again and we had good chemistry between us when we dated previously we were just at different spectrums in our lives for it to work. He also offered to take me to Italy with him in March and pay for the entire trip because he knew that is a place ive always wanted to visit. He is very generous but not very forthcoming with feelings as most men are not. Meanwhile a few weeks ago I met another guy who I find extremely attractive and we get along very well. There has been a few red flags here and there but nothing serious. I kinda feel like I have played with his feelings a little because I have been so torn between choosing between the two and I've tried to break it off but he really seems to like me I am just not sure of his intentions with me and if he is seeking anything long term. I honestly like both guys which has never happened to me before and it is so confusing and conflicting because I have no clue what to do. Can anyone help with advice?

Thank You

Hello,

So my girlfriend is around 4'11-5 ft and 105lbs and quite curvy. I want to surprise her with buying clothes for her and leaving them on her porch late at night then telling her to come open her door. However, since I want it to be a surprise and I do not want to tell her I am buying her clothes I need to make an assumption on what size shirts fit her. Girls, you have any idea what size shirt most likely fits her body type?

Thank You

Hello,

Me and my boyfriend meet awhile ago and it's both of our first official relationships with someone. Since I'm inexperienced with relationships, I don't know what it normal. The problem I'm having is that we keep running into a barrier. He talks about sometimes how I could do better than him and what not, which I try to reassure him differently because I have the same fear sometimes. I try to talk to him about why he feels that why and how we can fix it but it never works. He doesn't know why he does that stuff he does that makes him think I'm should be with someone better. And when I try to tell him to think about it or fix it, he says that it's too overwhelming to do it and he doesn't want to change. He would rather be miserable. I don't know if I'm the one asking for too much or something. I just need help because I can't watch him do this to himself for much longer

Thank You

Hello,

Last week had a good first date with this guy. We talked, had fun etc and he even indicated very clearly that he would like to meet again. He messaged me in the evening and the following morning also... so he is for sure interested...

Since last week we have been texting and flirting etc .. I was also honest and said to him that I was sure that I'd like to meet him again. I gave direct hints at finding time to set the second date and moved on a bit more in asking him directly. However, he said that he had already set plans which he could not postpone. He even sent me selfies of the places he was... so he did not lie...except for one thing.. he had told me that on Sunday evening he was busy with a dinner.. however than he told me that he want to see a movie... so maybe he lied there...

However, my concern is that he did not propose another date/time though he was busy. I would have expected him to say for example "im busy this weekend but im available next Thursday". Maybe I did the mistake of asking him again today whether he was available this week instead of waiting for him ... but at least this time he gave me 2 days on when he is available...

Are my concerns real or I was just being negative in that I was expecting too much after just 1 date? and did I do a mistake in asking him directly again?

Thank You

Hello,

So here is a little backstory, I work with this guy that I have a huge crush on and a month ago he asked me out. We had muilple dates since then and I believed it was going good, we were making future date plans and everything. I hung out with him on a Tuesday (8/15) and it went well but then the next day at work he pulled me aside and said "I really like you but I can't continue this because I have a lot of thing going on" I was shocked and blindsided by this. Later that next I texted asking for a full explanation and he said that he wasn't over his ex and he tried moving on with me but couldn't get over his strong feeling for his ex. He never mentioned any ex to me or people at work so I never even knew he had one. He told me that he wants time to himself to figure things out and that right now we don't have a chance. Should I wait for him or just move on? I still really like him but right now I'm confused.

Hello,

I would kindly ask for your help.

**It is a pretty long post and I would be extremely thankful for your help.**

So here’s the deal.

I’ve known this girl for 6 months now (we became clasmates in October). At the begining she didn’t show any particular signs of interest, we became friends and she fell in the group of friends I’m now hanging out with outside of the school. (btw, she’s a very outgoing person and always in a good mood).

But for the past month her bahaviour with me kind of changed. So here are some examples:

-she touches my shoulder often

-Once 4 of us were ‘’studying’’ togehter, I went to get coffee, she joined me, then later

-she often leans on my shoulder (e.g. I’m in the position of class sleeping position and she rests on me)

-we also went dancing together(2 of us) to a social dance, not a club(but btw, we have danced together a couple of times as I’ve learned some moves and since she dances really well, so I asked her to practice with me ‘’my new moves’’

-it happened that she exaggeratively laughed at my(not so funny jokes)

Last week our friends celebrated birthdays. She thought of presents, which were basically funny stuff from erotic shop(even the post cards were shaped as penises haha) which really surprised me.

So then, last week our group of friends went to a club.(nor me and her got drunk) Before that we were hanging out at a park. She leaned on me a couple of times and was also excited, that we are gonna dance later in the club(excitingly bumping her hips with mine).

But then me and few other guys came a bit later to the club enterance. She was kind of said because ‘’we came late’’ I guess?

Then in the club as a few of us were dancing together she didn’t really how any signs that she wants to dance with me (no looks, gestures) and I kind of didn’t want to either then, since she is an awesome dancer dancing by her own.

Thank You

Hello,

There is a hot guy I saw at my uni last week. He's really handsome and I never saw him until last week when he was buying something in the canteen and I felt someone was looking at me and I saw him looking at me.

That same day , both of us were sitting in the same area ( he was with his friend and I was with mine) and I noticed him look at me once or twice.

He left with his friend a few minutes later but when he went to get his phone, our eyes met as I caught him looking over at me.

I didn't see him for the next three days but yesterday I saw him and as usual he looked at me. He was doing some decorative work in the canteen and today I saw him talking with a group of people and I noticed him notice me when I passed by him in the morning and afternoon.

I really like him but I'm shy to speak to him. He is definitely a PHD or MSc student but he looks much older than me though (hes probably 25-26 but looks older I guess as he is scruffy and keeps a manbun). and he isn't helping much as all he does is stare at me. Like whenever I pass by or I am near by him, he definitely gives me a look.

What should I make of this? Does he find me attractive or he likes me?

Thank You
