Hey guys,

Dr. Spencer outlines the exact mechanisms in which flavonoids help the brain. To explain the exact mechanisms is beyond the scope of this article, but there are a few things you should understand. First, flavonoids don’t seem to act as antioxidants in the brain. Rather they are metabolized down so that their complicated structures become something different. And this different structure isn’t really useful as an antioxidant. So flavonoids do something different in the brain than what we expect them to do for the rest of our body.
