"Sailor Moon S" Classic Anime Talkback

This season brings about quite a few changes for the animation staff. Kunihiko Ikuhara is officially the director of this and the next series. Ikuko Itoh is promoted to character designer and while the designs are generally the same there is a softer touch and sharper angles in her artwork. While we still have Moonlight Legend as the opening it is now performed by Moon Lips (who are the seiyuu for the five Guardians) instead of DALI. Also the animation quality takes a bump with brighter colors and more overall consistency.

Personally I felt S is the best and most balanced season of the series. It sticks the closest to manga source material and doesn't get bogged down with absurd anime original character deconstruction. Many tout it as the "darkest" season and while that is very accurate the series is still Sailor Moon as has some very fun episodes in there as well.

When I got my Neon Alley e-mail is seems we are getting only one episode this least I'm hoping it's just this week and that Viz hasn't switched to a weekly schedule. I'll probably edit this post or let you guys talk amongst 'yer selves for a bit. Correction, just checked the Hulu website and it looks like we are back to 2 episodes per week.

 Thank you
